1 Heat pump theory

1.1 Working theory of heat pump water heater

The main heat sources for heat pump water heater are from the air, lake, river, or ground water. Some electricity may be consumed while the heat pump gets severalfold greater energy from the source to heat water for daily use.

Working theory: there is a special heat-absorbed media inside the heat pump which is called—refrigerant, it is -20°C in the form of liquid and keeps a temperature difference with the outdoors, thus it has the ability to absorb heat from the outside and make itself evaporated into gas in the evaporator, and then the gas will be heated by the work of compressor, finally the refrigerant will go back to its original state as liquid when the heat is being transferred to the tank water. Finally, a complete circulation is finished.

There are four main parts controller the work of refrigerant during the heat transfer, including evaporator, compressor, condenser, and expansion valve, refrigerant will correspondently go through evaporation (getting heat), compression, condensation (giving heat), throttling and finally get back to evaporation again.
