Double Source Heat Pump Air to Water

Air source heat pumps are used for space and domestic water-heating.They operate on similar principles indoors but collect their large volume of low energy heat from the ambient (external) air. Unlike geothermal heat pumps it is difficult to establish an average efficiency as they deliver less heat as the ambient temperature falls. It would be reasonable to assume an average of 300% at close to freezing. They can be used in both residential and commercial applications and are best integrated as part of and existing heating system. Most air heat pump manufacturers will have an auxiliary output to enable the back-up of electric immersion or oil / gas boiler.
