2. How does it works?

A heat pump only needs a heat source (outside air), two heat exchangers (one for absorb and the other to release heat) and a relatively small amount of energy to keep the system going. A heat pump extracts thermal energy from the environment.
The source is the outside air. The pump extracts energy at a certain temperature, increases this temperature and releases it into water that goes to the low temperature radiators, floor heating systems or fan coil units. Between these two, outside and inside of the house, the heat is moved by a working fluid (R-410A).

3. The Compressor, the heart of the heat pump

As the working fluid passes through the evaporator and extracts heat from the air, it changes phase and becomes a gas. Here is where enters the compressor. When you compress a gas, thermal energy in the gas is compressed together with the molecules and as a result, the temperature increases. If we fill the tires of a bicycle, we can feel the air inside heating through the rubber.
Inside your house the second heat exchange takes place when the compressed gas enters the condenser, it finds a surface that is colder than the gas. Finally, the gas condenses and releases heat, which heats the room.
